Short study

This is a short study to introduce you to the secrets of the Gospel – to clear up misunderstandings and to see Christianity in a new light. Gospel means „Good News“ but what is so good about these News?

That’s what many people are asking themselves. Let us not be satisfied with theoretical answers, let it become personal for you. The Gospel can lift one up in a way it cannot be ignored by the worst pessimist.

Why then is not everyone feeling good?

Could this be due to high requirements that are put on us by ourselves or by others which never can be met? Although we may be painstaking individuals trying to be perfect in all what we do, things do not always turn out right. That’s when we feel guilty.

Romans 5:18
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

The sin of one man unfortunately led to condemnation for all…

How can God be so resentful? But obviously, God must have a very upright character, He cannot become unfaithful to Himself. Anyway, it is impossible to judge God from a human perspective. It would be as if an ant compared itself with a human being.

James 2:10
For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it.

Galatians 5:3
I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.

These words emphasize that everyone who gets circumcised needs to fulfil the whole law. Circumcision is an example for religious rituals. It stands for a lawful demand that can never be fulfilled to the fullest. The law creates a dilemma for us. When we look at the demands we only become less capable of doing what is expected of us. We feel like a rabbit in front of a serpent – it is paralysed with fear and will soon be eaten.

Romans 7:8
But sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness (desires). For apart from the law, sin lies dead.

So, what is the law good for then?

Apparently, to get us into a hopeless situation. It shows us how we cannot escape by our own possibilities so we may stop and discover God’s possibilities. If we only read certain parts, we could get a false understanding of God being a wicked old man waiting to punish us. His intentions, however, are quite the opposite. So pay close attention to this summary! We cannot make it by our own effort – knowing this will lead us to the offer Jesus has in store for us.

Galatians 3:11
Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Galatians 3:24
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.

This inescapable situation was not created against us but is supposed to get us on the right track. Whoever wants to fulfill God’s law finds himself in front of a ladder with 10 million steps. Of course, a person who has climbed 100,000 steps feels better than one who only did 1,000. In fact, however, they both missed the mark. Jesus came to our level to give us a chance to experience relationship with God through Himself. The „impossible“ law wants to lead us to Christ. We need
to know about our legal position or else we will be tricked left, right and center. Our natural tendency, obviously, is towards the law. We are very familiar with the principle of reward and punishment.

Galatians 3:13
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”

Romans 5:13
For sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.

Psalm 32:2
Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

What does this mean for our lives?

Are we going to look for a way to sin now?

This cannot possibly be our conclusion. Whoever receives this gift of grace is not even going to want to sin, out of joy and gratitude. Not because it is forbidden but because they do not want to do it anymore.

This is totally different from all forms of relgions – there is something very unique!

It is about G.R.A.C.E. – God’s Redemption: Accepting Christ Eternally

Galatians 2:21
… for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

Galatians 2:16
Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

This verse shows us that we need not even create faith out of our own. It is about the faith that Jesus Christ has for you. Through Christ’s faith we believe in Jesus Christ.

Grace is God’s possibility where we are bound by our impossibility.

Without Him we can do nothing but with Him we can do all things. Everything is possible to him who believes! We have heard it many times before and still might not experience it accordingly. Whoever has accepted this gift in its abundance is free indeed! Freedom is a word that is often misinterpreted. This is about the freedom not having to sin anymore. Also, the freedom of being able to forgive is extraordinary. Even not having to be right is very pleasing.

Galatians 4:5
…to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Galatians 5:1
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a {religious} yoke of slavery.

James 1:25
But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer {or reader} who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

He who knows that he has not achieved anything towards God by his own deeds is made free to do extraordinary things. We can never get enough of God’s grace!

Grace is obviously the vital substance for a fruitful Christian life.

Hebrews 12:15
See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

Ephesians 2:7
…so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

2 Peter 1:2
May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord!

Grace is the secret of the Gospel. This is the Good part of the News, God has done something for you and you don’t have to do anything for Him to make it happen. Whoever experiences this has indeed become a new person. He or she will think and act differently because grace is the total opposite of any kind of society and religion we are used to.

Try grace!

Take as much as you can, God has a lot!

You can do it by saying a simple prayer as proposed here

This is going to complete your life.
